To protect slopes and bottoms from erosion caused by currents and wave action, Holcim has developed the Betomat® Concrete Block Mats. Concrete block mats are flexibly applicable mats of concrete blocks, which blend in completely with the natural environment. The prefab concrete block mat comes in various sizes and weights for all kinds of applications. They can be placed both above and below water to reinforce and protect banks.

With the concrete block mats, bank work in a water construction project can be carried out quickly and easily. The mat can be installed underwater and continued on the above-water slope without interruption. The Betomat’s geotextile on which the concrete blocks are fixed prevents soil from leaching out. The Concrete Block Mat is very flexible and therefore absorbs minor subsidence of the subsoil without any problems.
